If you are really lucky the map tag will show you where another has spawned before your vacation ends.
If you are just ordinarily lucky, the relic merchant will have some for you to buy. If you don't mind the smell, you can dig through all the garbage cans in town and you might find one. Or 38 piles of trash, 18 newspapers, and 5 teddy bears, like Arthur did. You can leave from your vacation, wait the required 2 days, travel to Egypt again, and the game may have pitied you and spawned another.
Buy the "Collection Helper" with your lifetime happiness reward points, and it may help you find them. Then go on a few of the "Collect some of this stuff, and then bring it back to me" missions. I found another piece of mummitonium when I was collecting gold at the abandoned mine. Then go back to the Adventure Bulletin Board and refuse the missions until you get the Mummitonium mission again.

Make sure that you've got your map view set to "All" so you'll be sure to see any that are available. I didn't see any the first couple of times, but finally got one to show up. Also, think about collecting more than you need for the adventure because it's extremely valuable when smelted and you can keep and sell any extras you find.
RockinRobin Occult Posts: Same thing happened to my Sim. She was doing the adventure where she needed to find 2 pieces of mummitomium and there wasn't any to be found. She had to leave Egypt and when she visited again, it finally showed up on the 2nd day. Now she's managed to find several more without hardly trying! Sometimes it is also sold in the relic store. Not always, but sometimes! Agnes's Story - Completed. Wow, I guess I've gotten really lucky.
I've done this quest like three times on separate occasions, and I've never had to wait at all! The other which is a lot easier with the Eye of Horus is to dig through as many Excavation sites as possible which can occasionally yield the metal in Egypt. Thanks for that. I kept on trying to find it and eventually found some near the turn off of the road which leads to the temple of Hatsheptut.
